SEA LIFE TAKE SPECIAL CARE WITH SMALL SEAL PUPS
The animal care team at Scarborough Sea Life centre are looking after their first casualties of the common seal breeding season with extra care due to their small size.
Within the space of one week, the Sea Life centre has taken in three very small common seal pups, Bruges, Tokyo & Dallas.
All three seal pups are suffering from worms, which is the main contributing factor in their low weight. They are all receiving treatment to combat the worms and help get their weight back up to a healthy level.
“Each pup needs feeding every 4 hours so we are working around the clock to give them the best care possible and get them back to full health” said Todd German.
If you come across an injured or abandoned seal pup you should remain a safe distance away from the seal, keep dogs away, try to stay quiet and gather as much information as you can about the seal and its location before you call Scarborough Sea Life centre on 01723 373414.
