AN artist who paints scenic pictures of Scarborough and the surrounding area is holding an exhibition of his work.
Pete Lapish, of Scalby Road, will be displaying his artwork at Picture Place Gallery in Wykeham.

Mr Lapish moved to Scarborough from Leeds two years ago and uses the town's scenic views as settings for his paintings.

His recent artwork includes paintings of Scarborough Harbour, the South Bay, Peasholm Park, Scarborough Mere and North Bay Railway.

He said: "They will all be on display during the exhibition including 40 originals.

"I am really looking forward to holding this exhibition. We are inviting a lot of people and anyone else is welcome to come along."

Mr Lapish now creates cards, postcards and calendars using his paintings which will also be available to buy.

Mr Lapish said Scarborough is the "perfect place" to paint his pictures.

He said: "I have really enjoyed painting in Scarborough and some of my best work has been done here.

"There are many lovely locations in Scarborough where I can paint."

The exhibition will be open on Saturday September 5 and then from Tuesday September 8 to Saturday September 12 from 9.30am to 5pm.
