Rescue demonstration begins Lifeboat Weekend

RNLI lifeguards and members of the lifeboat crew teamed up yesterday to carry out a joint rescue demonstration to launch Scarborough lifeboat station's Flag Day and to highlight the charity's ''Life First'' campaign.

The RNLI lifeguard service was introduced in Scarborough earlier this year and with many people deciding to holiday closer to home, it was an ideal opportunity for people to learn more about the charity that saves lives at sea and how to stay safe at the beach.

The crew of Scarborough's Mersey class lifeboat also took part in a rescue demonstration with the an RAF Sea King rescue helicopter.
